questionsThis topic has been coming up so much lately, I had to write about it. At some point in your business, especially if you’re a coach or service provider, you are likely to reach a point where you realize you don’t want to do exactly what you’ve been doing anymore. It’s a natural process – as you grow and evolve, so does your business. Except, when this moment happens, it doesn’t feel like growth, it feels like a huge obstacle.

And, your “whole life” as in “what do I want to do with my life” is another area that gets called into question a lot.

The problem is, most of us are busy trying to figure out the high level answer – “where am I going?” “what’s the end all be all?” Sometimes, we have a crystal clear vision. Other times, we simply don’t know because what we thought we wanted maybe isn’t what we want anymore. And, the more you try and answer the large question without succeeding, the more depressing it gets, and then, if you can’t answer the big questions, how can you answer the little ones…

OK, let’s shift that process around. If you’re juggling that huge question right now, and can’t quite figure out the answer, stop trying. Back off. Instead, try answering simpler, more immediate questions to tap into what you do know, such as :

  1. What do you want right now?
  2. What do you want to eat for your next meal?
  3. What do you want in the next hour?
  4. What’s a movie you want to see?
  5. What’s a place you’d like to travel to?
  6. What’s a health goal you’d like to reach?
  7. What item of clothing would you most like to add to your wardrobe?

It’s ironic, when I talk to many of you that don’t feel you know what you want, big picture, you are crystal clear on some of these answers. So, try going with what you know, right now and let that lead you to the big picture!
